ADRIENNE JONES BIO

A 19-year veteran of fingerstyle and rhythm guitar and a recent finalist in four national songwriting competitions, Adrienne has been called  "a setter of songs, as a jeweler who sets a rare stone." With three solo albums to her credit, she has been expanding an enthusiastic New England fan base to include the eastern seaboard and states west as far as Colorado, opening hearts by sharing hers.

As well as being a professional actress and soloist, Adrienne was a founding member of the Connecticut-based trio, Madwoman in the Attic (with Margo Hennebach and Diane Chodkowski), who won Northeastern audiences with their combination of stunning harmonies, outrageous whimsy, and dramatic performance style, winning Best Acoustic Band in the Hartford Advocate's Readers' Poll two years running.  She and Hennebach, with the accompaniment of Mark Saunders, continue the musical romp with Mad Agnes, presenting almost-acoustic originals and haunting arrangements of Celtic traditionals.

Adrienne's  first  album, All My Days and Nightswas called "folk poetry" by Dirty Linen Magazine; reviewers praised Talking River's lyrical prowess, fine production and inspiring messages. "Voice in the Mirror," writes Rick Foster of the Sun Chronicle, "is a landmark of artistic and technical achievement by an extraordinarily gifted independent artist."

And her voice?  Says Joe del Priore of the Hudson Current: "Sound silk, pure and simple."

ALL RIGHT...
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SAYING ABOUT ME?
"While Adrienne Jones might excel at the craft of songwriting, it's her voice that truly sets her apart.  She possesses that expressive ability that Joni Mitchell had in her early years, to wrap meaning around a lyric with the simple rise or fall of a note..."

Dirty Linen Magazine

"Jones...has a flawless soprano that floats away on gusts of imagination and returns magically...sound silk, pure and simple."

Joe Del Priore, Hudson Current

"Jones' 'House of Earth' conjures up her pioneer ancestors from a faded photograph taken by the couple's first sod house.  But when she sings, 'I will not leave you / here in this house of earth,' you get the feeling that she is also talking about the grave and about a love that will transcend it.  And sure enough, Jones has immortalized them in a feat that's something between memory and channeling."

Alan Rowoth, Folk Music Digest

"Her voice is flutelike...pure, crystal-clear sounds, imbued with power and feeling."

Jayne Keedle, Htfd. Advocate

"...each (number) has not only a most consistent and impressive power, but also that magic ingredient... catchiness.  Adrienne... is a brilliant composer, a poet with a golden pen and a singularly lovely voice."
